Position: Home Is Here Opportunity Program Participant
Alyssa (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Professional currently residing in the Midwest. Through participation in the inaugural cohort of Immigrant Rising’s Home is Here Opportunity Program, Alyssa hopes to help empower immigrant communities by disseminating entrepreneurship and leadership resources and increasing the accessibility of mental health support. As a clinician from a lower-income background, Alyssa’s efforts are deeply steeped in the importance of access and equity, with dreams of establishing a free to low-cost wellness practice that prioritizes the hopes, needs, and wants of members of marginalized communities. In her free time, she enjoys reading and writing, with plans to publish fiction novels that prioritize diverse and joyous storytelling that aim to depict some of the varied stories she would’ve enjoyed reading growing up, ensuring that others see themselves in her work, in much the same way she sought to see herself in others’.
