Position: Home Is Here Opportunity Program Participant
Claudia (she/her/ella) immigrated from Peru to Northern Virginia in 2001. From a young age, she recognized the impact her immigration status had on her mental health. Through therapy, she discovered that her undocumented identity represents resilience and strength. This realization inspired Claudia to advocate for the undocumented community. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marymount University with the goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Claudia is passionate about helping first- and second-generation immigrants overcome the challenges of their immigration status by empowering them to achieve their goals regardless of their immigration status. She is one of the participants in Immigrant Rising’s first Home is Here Opportunity Program cohort. In her free time, Claudia enjoys working out, watching true crime documentaries, and doing puzzles.
