Position: Home Is Here Opportunity Program Participant
Esme (she/her/ella) was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, raised in San Salvador, Hidalgo, Mexico and now resides in Colorado. As the eldest daughter from a low-income family, she strives for equity and justice for all through community organizing and education. She graduated from Metropolitan State University, Denver, and started working with Convivir Colorado and Queenshipp to educate youth on their identity, social ecosystem role, and power. She recently joined the Home Is Here Opportunity Program, hoping to get additional resources, support, and a role to empower the immigrant community and other marginalized groups. You can find Esme exploring local coffee shops in Denver where she will journal, read, or spend time with her friends, where she will be drinking an iced strawberry matcha.
