Matsuko (she/her/ella) is a third-year college student rooted in her Okinawan, Peruvian, and Japanese ethnicity. Born in Taiwa, Miyagi, Matsuko came to the U.S. determined to pursue her goals. As an English and Humanities major at De Anza College, Matsuko channels her experiences into advocacy through HEFAS and UndocuSTEM, striving to uplift and represent her community. Matsuko’s creativity thrives in writing poetry and organizing spaces where she can express her story and build connections, reminding her that even in adversity, resilience and pride can light the way forward. Matsuko’s journey is one of courage and hope, driven by the belief that every step she takes can inspire others to find their strength and voice in a world that sometimes tries to silence them.
