Wes
Position: Home Is Here Opportunity Program Participant
Wes (he/him) was born in China and moved to the United States at the age of 20 in 2023. He is currently studying computer science and engineering at De Anza College, with plans to transfer to a University of California (UC) campus in 2025.
At De Anza, Wes is deeply involved in supporting the undocumented community, particularly Asian undocumented students. He is dedicated to building stronger connections between Immigrant Rising and his college and amplifying the voices of Asian undocumented groups. Passionate about using technology to empower people, Wes is currently developing a database that tracks transferable courses from California Community Colleges (CCCs) to UCs. In addition to his studies and advocacy, Wes is a math teacher at an after-school institution, where he works to support students’ academic growth.
