Jose Antonio Vargas reads his new memoir on 9/29

Immigrants Rising is excited to announce a very special event with Jose Antonio Vargas in conversation with Sabaa Tahir at Aragon High School Theatre in San Mateo, CA — Saturday, September 29, 7:30pm. The event is organized by Kepler’s Literary Foundation, the non-profit partner of Kepler’s Books.

For those connected to Immigrants Rising, KLF has discounted a block of tickets. The first 25 people to purchase tickets in Immigrants Rising’s block will have an opportunity to meet Jose privately before the event. To purchase:

In 2012, Jose Antonio Vargas’ monumental Time Magazine cover story on the threats facing millions of undocumented minors across the country inspired DACA and renewed conversation over the DREAM Act. With his recent documentary, Documented, and his new memoir, Dear America: Notes from and Undocumented Citizen, Vargas continues to be an indomitable force for the rights and freedoms of those without a voice.

Sabaa Tahir is the author of the #1 New York Times Bestselling Young Adult series, An Ember in the Ashes. Tahir was born to Muslim-Pakistani immigrants in Great Britain. She lived there for the first year of her life before moving to California, where she grew up in the Mojave Desert in the middle of a naval base at the small motel her parents owned.

We hope you will join Immigrants Rising for this incredible evening with two iconic writers.
