Janet (she/her/ella) was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She immigrated to the U.S. with her family when she was 10 months old and grew up in Sunnyvale, CA.

Janet graduated from San Francisco State University in 2020 with a degree in Political Science. During her time at SFSU, Janet was a part of IDEAS (Improving Dreams, Equity, Access, & Success) an undocumented student-led organization that focused on community and higher education advocacy; which included the creation and growth of the Dream Resource Center. She was also one of the founders and chair for the Beyond Borders graduation, the first graduation at SFSU for undocumented students.

Janet was a Legal Fellow at Immigrants Rising and supported the Immigration Legal Intake Service (ILIS) helping undocumented young people learn about possible immigration options. From this fellowship, she gained a strong immigration law foundation which she continued to utilize as a DreamSF Fellow.

For the last two years, Janet worked as an immigration paralegal in Marin County, where she helped clients file for Naturalization, DACA, renew their work permits and provided immigration screenings.

Janet enjoys spending time with her two dogs, listening to podcasts, and going to live shows.
