Dani Amador

Dani (they/them) is a queer non-binary migrant from Veracruz, Mexico. They immigrated to the United States at the age of nine and have been based in California ever since.
A former Immigrants Rising Immigration Law Fellow, Dani has experience providing legal intake services to migrant communities across the country. They also have experience supporting deportation defense work and nurturing youth leadership with the California for Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance (CIYJA). Dani served as the Healing Justice Fellow with Community United Against Violence (CUAV), providing direct services to queer and trans migrants in the Bay Area. As part of their role with CUAV, they led curriculum development to uplift collective and individual healing justice practices. They also co-facilitated support groups to foster a space for community building and healing.
Dani is passionate about pursuing a career in mental health by providing direct wellness services to undocumented, migrant, and queer communities. As the Wellness Support Group Coordinator with Immigrants Rising, Dani works in collaboration with the Wellness Team to organize our Support Groups. Overall, Dani feels a deep commitment to empowering and affirming people’s right to self determination and agency.
In their free time, Dani enjoys going for a morning swim, reading, making playlists, and spending time with chosen family and friends.
