Laura Monica (/LAO-ra MO-knee-ka/) (she/they/ella) is a queer displaced Indigenous mujer from Nezahuacoyolt, Mexico and a current (im)migrant navigating a forced undocumented experience in the U.S. Laura Monica has directly worked alongside the immigrant community for over 15 years and is excited to continue building power, and spaces for softness, joy, remembering and rest.

As a SEED 2.0 grantee, Laura Monica created Inner Work Collective Freedom to co-create sacred spaces alongside immigrant, BIPOC, Queer, and First-Gen community members seeking brave and community spaces to remember their power and wisdom through retreats, workshops, and sacred circles.

Laura’s awareness and approach to programming, organizing, and advocacy come from their family’s funds of knowledge acquired through agricultural work in the apple and cherry industry in rural Washington State. They are guided by the power gifted and taught by the four elements, Mother Earth, and directly affected community members. Laura Monica centers peoples’ power, wisdom, humanity, and agency in their work as a comadre, advocate, and ancestor in training.

In their free time, Laura Monica enjoys going on walks, taking classes with curanderxs y maestrxs, sharing meals and trying new food, listening to music, traveling, visiting the ocean, reconnecting to Danza Mexica, and taking sun and salt baths.
