Immigrants Rising’s Promising Practices Roundtable is a monthly virtual space for California educators to gain cross-institutional learnings and build solutions together.

The Promising Practices Roundtable is a monthly virtual meeting that provides California educators with various new strategies and helpful resources to better guide undocumented students through higher education. Participants will hear directly from colleagues dedicated to developing collective solutions for access, retention, and success of undocumented students.

Educators and staff from key departments supporting undocumented students in California colleges, universities, high schools, adult schools, and community-based organizations are invited to join us!

(1/15) Promoting Inclusive and Safe Campuses

Feeling safe while attending college is top of mind for undocumented students in today’s climate. Understand new and updated policies to help ensure safe and secure campus environments. Be exposed to examples of protocols and strategies that help institutions prepare for and navigate potential immigration enforcement.

(2/19) Expanding Access to Higher Education through AB 540

AB 540 has unlocked higher education for countless students regardless of immigration status. But accessing and benefitting from the policy can still be confusing for students. Join this session for practical tools to guide students and process affidavits effectively. Hear from champions on how they support students who may not yet be eligible.

Deciding on a career path can be a confusing and isolating experience for students. Undocumented students face the uncertainty of not knowing which major(s) to choose that best align with their career interests or if they may offer possible employment sponsorships in the future. (11/20) Turning College Dreams into Funded Realities Through CADAA
