Three undocumented students who recently graduated from a California college share their journey through higher education.

“I also want to be visible in this space so people also know that there’s undocumented Black students,” said Shirleen Achieng who graduated from University of California, Irvine in 2020. Shirleen is a Higher Education Program Participant and the co-author of Effectively Supporting Black Undocumented Students Through Higher Education.

Katharine Gin, Co-founder and Executive Director of Immigrants Rising, also shares with LAist the importance of entrepreneurship as the number of students with DACA are dwindling.
